• We regret to have to communicate that the two upcoming Car Boot Sale events we were scheduling for later this year will be Cancelled.

    We are cancelling these events after internal discussions and a continuous consultation with the local authorities who had initially advised us to wait, closer to the dates, before taking any definite decisions. In the spirit of local community and to do our tiny bit to avoid spreading this Covid-19 virus even further, we have taken the decision to cancel the two events, which were earmarked for the 29th November and for the 13th December.

    The Friends of the Sick and the Elderly in Gozo (FSEG) remains a voluntary organisation that is fully dependant on receiving contributions and donations, including through fund-raising activities, and it is with sadness that we communicate that we have had to cancel once again. We are nonetheless fully aware of our responsibility not to allow persons to gather, even if this means that we have to find other means - if at all possible - to assist us in continuing doing our work.

    Those wishing to contribute to the FSEG projects and initiatives can nonetheless do so via bank transfer with the following details:

    Bank address: Lombard Bank Malta plc, Victoria, Gozo

    Account: 01440600283

    IBAN: MT70 LBMA 0500 0000 0000 01440600283 (without any spaces)

  • Projects

    Over many years, the funds we collected have been used to donate much needed items of equipment to the various departments in the Gozo General Hospital, including Rezidenza Sant'Anna, the Male Elderly Residence, and the Psychiatric Wards for the benefit of patients and staff. (See Donations and Loans section).

    In 2009 we co-operated in the setting up of Meals-on-Wheels in Gozo and continue to be committed to run the cooking and delivery service for the meals on wheels that is delivered in a vehicle we donated for the purpose.

    We help also the homes for the elderly run charitably by the Dominican and Carmelite nuns in Victoria.

    Since 2009, the FSEG ongoing project has been to cater for the needs of the sick and the elderly in their own homes by providing pressure-relieving mattresses, electrically-controlled patient lifters and variable-position beds.

    fseg opening Dec2011 500The Equipment Loan Service (ELS) Project encourages and assists family members to care for bedridden patients at home and helps relieve pressure on beds for the elderly in hospital and nursing homes. In addition we continue to supply wheelchairs, walking aids, commodes, etc., which the hospital seems to have been unable to loan out for years.  This project is now well established and expanding.

    On 5th December 2010, with the help of Rotary Club Gozo, we opened a Storage and Distribution Centre at the M.A.S. Residential Complex in Ghajnsielem for our equipment loan sevice.

    In 2018, we finally moved to a purpose designed property located in Victoria, courtesy of the Government

car boot 2 450These have replaced the former Car Boot Sales and are organised by FSEG volunteers to generate funds from: (1) open-air sales by FSEG of items donated by friends, and also (2) donations by the wider public for the use of  spaces for stands or stalls in the fairground.

The Fairs are held at the Victoria Football Ground from 7:00am onwards on the last Sundays of January, February, March, April, May, September, October, November & December.

Tthe following guidelines must be followed:

  1. These Fairs help recycling between people of unwanted items they own and, in so doing, help the philanthropic work of the FSEG;
  2. The participants must pre-book their space and are expected to donate something to the FSEG;
  3. At the end of each event participants should remove their own material and leave the area free from litter and clean.
  4. No Commercial traders are allowed to participate;
  5. No lorries, trucks or commercial vans are allowed in the area.
